Answer:

Explanation:

Hint already gives the formulae for the balls' volume as:

Golf Ball Volume V = 4/3 π r^3 ;

V = 4/3 ∙ (3.14) ∙ (2.1)^3

Softball Volume V = 4/3 π r^3 ;

V = 4/3 ∙ (3.14) ∙ (4.2)^3

Note the volume depends on the radius to the power 3. So for a softball with double the radius of a golf ball, its volume will be 2^3 = 8 times that of the golf ball.

Golf Ball Volume = 4/3 ∙ (3.14) ∙ (2.1)^3 = 38.77 cm^3

Softball Volume = 4/3 ∙ (3.14) ∙ (4.2)^3 = 310.18 cm^3

Golf ball:-

\\ \rm\Rrightarrow V=4/3\pi (2.1)^3=4/3\pi 9.261=12.35\pi cm^3

Soft ball:-

\\ \rm\Rrightarrow V=4/3\pi (4.2)^3 74.1=98.8\pi cm^3

Ratio:-

\\ \rm\Rrightarrow (12.35\pi)/(98.8\pi)

\\ \rm\Rrightarrow (1)/(8)

\\ \rm\Rrightarrow 1:8
