Explanation:

2x^2 - 2x = 1

2x^2 - 2x - 1 = 0

Here,

a = 2

b = - 2

c = - 1

D = b^2 - 4ac

D = ( - 2 )^2 - 4 ( 2 ) ( - 1 )

= 4 + 8

D = 12

x = - b ± √D / 2a

= - ( - 2 ) ± √12 / 2 ( 2 )

= 4 ± 2√3 / 4

= 2 ( 2 ± √3 ) / 4

= 2 ± √3 / 2

x = ( 2 + √3 ) / 2, ( 2 - √3 ) / 2
