y = 1/4x - 5

Explanation:

If gradient or slope (m) equal to 1/4

then y - y¹ = m( x - x¹) ..........(1)

where the line happen to be passing through the point given above

therefore let x¹ be 8.........(2)

and y¹ be -3...............(3)

substitute (3) and (2) into (1)

we have y -(-3) = 1/4 (x - 8)

so 4(y+3)= (x-8)

4y = x - 8 - 12

therefore y = 1/4x - 5
