Answer: x=4

given equation: 8 - 2x= 5(x-4)

STEP 1: distribute the 5 with ONLY the parenthesis which is (x-4)

so it will be 5x-20 (-20 because 5 x -4= -20)

Now the equation is 8 - 2x= 5x - 20

STEP 2: ADD 20 on both SIDES

8+20= 28

New equation: 28 - 2x= 5x

STEP 3: ADD 2x on both sides 2x+5x= 7x

STEP 4: Now divide 28 by 7

28/7= 4

Therefor x= 4
