Ok this is a random question. Years ago (4th grade) I was fortune teller in a booth, specifically the ones from the carnivals. Is that cultural appropriation? Can u explain a little bit more why. Now I would never dress up as someone else’s culture. At the time though I wasn’t trying to I was trying to dress up as the carnival animatronic that u put a coin in and it gives u a little paper fortune. I just wanna understand it more because I never wanna offend anyone.

Answer:

It is not culture appropriately but it was a way for you to experience being a fortune teller it is. A way to embrace other cultures and life style is to look up history and try to get it right.

Explanation: in some areas it is required to put a costume for the job and some it is their choice to dress weird.
