Answer:

27 if variable is near the fraction,

-1/129 if variable is in the denominator and not numerator

Explanation:

make 2/3 have the same denominator as -1/9

2/3*3/3=6/9

6/9x-1/9x=5/9

5/9x+5 = 20

20-5 = 15

5/9x = 15

15/(5/9x) -> x= -1/129

if you mean the whole equation has the variable x and no the denominator then it is equal to 27

Answer:

x = 27

Explanation:

2/3 x - 1/9 x + 5 = 20 Subtract 5 from both sides

2/3 x - 1/9 x = 15 Change 2/3 to x/9

3*2/3*3 - 1/9 x = 15

6/9 x - 1/9 x = 15

5/9 x = 15 Multiply both sides by 9

5x / 9 * 9 = 15 * 9

5x = 135 Divide by 5

x = 27
