the slope of a line is expressed by the ratio y/x defining how many units y changes, when x changes a certain amount of units.

the slope of A is 2 (factor of x) = 2/1.

and that means when x changes one unit, y changes 2 units.

the slope of B is 1 = 1/1.

when x changes 1 unit, y changes 1 unit. so, B is flatter (it does not climb up so fast).

and the constant numbers in the equations give us the offset of the lines in y direction for x=0.
