8x + 2 and 4x - 6

Explanation:

(f + g)(x)

= f(x + g(x)

= 6x - 2 + 2x + 4 ← collect like terms

= 8x + 2

(b)

(f - g)(x)

= f(x) - g(x)

= 6x - 2 - (2x + 4) ← distribute parenthesis by - 1

= 6x - 2 - 2x - 4 ← collect like terms

= 4x - 6
