5x < 12

If we divide both sides by 5, we get an equation like this:

x < 12/5

Then we can convert that fraction to a decimal and we get this!

x < 2.4

Finally, in order to draw it on the number line, we need to do this:

Find 2.4 on the number line, then draw an open circle on that 2.4. Then, attach an arrow going from that circle all the way to the left of the number line! The circle and arrow represents the fact that "x" is not equal to 2.4, but it is smaller. If it was equal to 2.4 or smaller, then the open dot would have to be a closed dot!!!!
