Answer:

smaller number - 7

greater number - 8

Explanation:

let a = smaller number

a + 1 = greater number

the following equation can be derived from the question

(5 x a) = 3 + 4(a + 1)

5a = 3 + 4a + 4

5a = 7 + 4a

5a - 4a = 7

a = 7 = smaller number

a + 1 = 7 + 1 = 8 = greater number
