Approximately 53 passengers
Explanation:
12% of the passengers go without a ticket
so that means 88% of the passengers go with ticket
The largest number of passengers in the tram cannot be greater than 60
Solution:
Set up the dimensions this way:
•part/whole = part/whole
•88%/100% = ?/60
________________________
Then multiply 60 x 88
60 x 88 = 5280
Then divided 5280 by 100
5280 divided by 100 = 52.8
________________________
So the largest number of passengers in the tram is approximately 53
