1) see where the line touches the x-axis and no where else. There are 3 points where the line does touch them and those are the answers.

2) interval is usually the space of where you check. They said (-infinity,-4) so anything to the left of x= -4. Identify where the x-axis is and decide if the line is above or below it. Below= - Above= +

3) Line goes to top right. We need to understand that the right on the x-axis is positive and up on the y-axis is positive. so if it is going to the right and up, its going to (+infinity, +infinity)

4) Local maximum over interval. Like What I said for #2, its where you check. So check everything from x= -3 to x=1.5 and see the highest point as a y value. In this case, the highest or biggest number is 56.
