Explanation:

First plug in the x values.

y=5x+1

=(0)5+1

=1

y=5x+1

=(4)5+1

=21

Average rate of change = the change in the output divided by the change in the input.

Output change: 21-1=20

Input change: 4-0=4

20/4=5
