2 pounds of cherries cost 2x3.75 dollars = 7.5 dollars.
1.5 pounds of apples cost 1.5x2.25 = 3.375 dollars.
The total is $10.87.5 (rounded to $10.88)

For x pounds of cherries and y pounds of apples, the cost is 3.75x + 2.25y
