8^(y+2)=(2^4)/(4^(2y))

y = -2/7

Explanation:

8^(y+2) = 2^4/4^(2y)

you want to on both sides so you can solve for the exponents

8= 2^3

4= 2^2

2^3y+6 = 2^4/2^(4y)

2^(3y+6) = 2^(4-4y)

3y + 6 = 4 - 4y

7y = -2

y = -2/7
