Active voice:

In a sentence written in the active voice,the subject of sentence performs the action. In a sentence written in the passive the subject receives the action. Active:The candidate believe that Congress must place a ceiling on the budget.

Passive voice:

In a sentence using passive voice ,the subject is acted upon; he or she receives the action expressed by the verb .The agent performing the action may appear in a "by the...." phrase or maybe omitted. Example:The dog was bitten by the dog.
