Here m = -
(1)/(2) and c = - 2 , then

y = -
(1)/(2) x - 2 ← equation of line

To find the x- intercept let y = 0

0 = -
(1)/(2) x - 2 ( add 2 to both sides )

2 = -
(1)/(2) x ( multiply both sides by - 2 to clear the fraction )

- 4 = x

The x- intercept is - 4
