What fraction of 300 gallons is 117 L? Give your answer in simplest form. 1 gallon = 4.5 L.

Use proportions to find the gallon equivalent of 117 L:


(1gal)/(4.5L) =(Xgal)/(117L)

Cross-multiply & solve:


4.5x=117\\x=26

So 117 L = 26 gallons

Out of 300 gallons, it's


(26)/(300) =(2(13))/(2(150)) =(13)/(150)
