Answer: 3/40

Step-by-step explanation:

What we know:

  • 1/5 of the baseball cards are California players
  • 38 of this 1/5 are from SDP players

How to solve:

We need to find the fraction of cards that have SDP players from the total collection. This can be done by converting it into a decimal and then matching it with one of the options.

Process:

Decimal of California Cards

Set up equation x = 1/5

Solve x = 0.2

Decimal of SDP Cards

Set up equation y = (x/100)*38

Substitute y = (0.2/100)*38

Simplify y = 0.002*38

Solve y = 0.076

Matching

A

Set up equation a = y

Substitute 23/40 = 0.076

Simplify 0.575 = 0.076

B

Set up equation a = y

Substitute 4/13 = 0.076

Simplify 0.308 = 0.076

C

Set up equation a = y

Substitute 3/40 = 0.076

Simplify 0.075 = 0.076

Answer: 3/40
