the sides, based on the tickmarks on the picture, are all equal, so the figure is namely a rhombus with four congruent triangles, in this case each of the four triangles have a base of 4 and a height of 4, so

Area of right angled triangle

= bh / 2

Here,

Base ( b ) = 5

Height ( h ) = 4

Area of each right angled triangle

= bh / 2

= ( 5 x 4 ) / 2

[ 4 = 2 x 2 ]

= ( 5 x 2 x 2 ) / 2

= 5 x 2

= 10

Area of 4 right angled triangles

= 4 x 10

= 40
