on algebra, to move something to the other side of the equal sign you must make the variable cancel out.

so, in this case, we will add 2x to cancel out the -2x. after that rules of algebra state whatever we do to one side of the equal sign, we must do to the other. so we get 2x on the left side, resulting in 2x+y=-3
