-pick any two points on the graph that belong to the line,

for example (1,1) and (2,3)

-find out how did you get from one point to the other

to get from (1,1) to (2,3) I went 2 up (rise) and 1 to the right (run)

slope= rise /run = 2/1 =2

Few things to keep in mind:

-To find the slope, always move vertical first (y-axis) and than horizontal( x-axis) , because m=change in y/change in x

-For vertical movement, moving up is positive , moving down is negative

For horizontal movement, moving right is positive , moving left is negative
