Answer:

b = (11)/(x) + 1

Explanation:

The equation is given as follows;

x + 3 - (1)/(2) \cdot x = (1)/(2) \cdot (b \cdot x - 5)

By expanding and collecting terms in x we get;

3 + (x)/(2) = (b \cdot x)/(2) - 2.5

\therefore 3 + 2.5 + (x)/(2) = 5.5 + (x)/(2) = (b \cdot x)/(2)

b = (11 + x)/x = 11/x + 1

The equation has exactly one solution when b = 11/x + 1
