According to the attached section, we can consider that the information that Odysseus' men were lost because of "the recklessness of their won ways" is associated with this section, because men have become accustomed to following Odysseus' advice, since they were successful. However, this left Odysseus and his men haughty and overconfident, causing Odysseus to act in very irresponsible ways, which caused the defeat and loss of many of his men. the reader see, that even being a hero and even being very intelligent, Odysseus had defects that caused many negative things. The reader also learns that even in the presence of a hero and a trustworthy person, it is important to reason and draw one's own conclusions as way to protect yourself.

As we can see in the text, the advice of Odysseus on the construction of the horse that allowed the domination of Troy was very positive, but at a certain point in history, Odysseus decides to attack the land of the Cyclopes just out of curiosity, which causes the death of many of the his men.
