Why was it difficult to have accurate time in the Middle Ages?

The clocks were sundials.
There were no clocks.
The people didn't understand time.
Time was not important to the people.

There were no clocks.

The Middle Ages did not reach its industrial phase quick enough to develop technological innovations such as clocks. Therefore, the people’s accuracy to keep time was heavily lacking.
