Parallel lines have the same gradient

So,

gradient for second line = gradient of the first line = 1/2

Also,

the line passes through (-6,-17)

So, we can find the y-intercept by substitution

y = mx + c

-17 = (1/2 * -6) + c

-17 = -3 + c

c = -14

So,

the equation is y = 1/2x - 14
