3/4x + 3 - 2x = -1/4 + 1/2x + 5

Put in terms of 4 as denominator
3/4x + 12/4 - 8/4x = -1/4 + 2/4x + 20/4

Combine like terms
-5/4x + 12/4 = 2/4x + 19/4

Simplify
12/4 = 7/4x + 19/4
-7/4 = 7/4x
x = -1 :)

Check:
3/4(-1) + 3 - 2(-1) = -1/4 + 1/2(-1) + 5
-3/4 + 3 + 2 = -1/4 - 1/2 + 5
-3/4 + 5 = -3/4 + 5
-3/4 = -3/4 :)
