An automobile factory wants to produce a total of 210 cars during three shifts. If the first shift produces two-fifths of the cars and the second shift produce one-third of the cars, what fraction of the total cars does the third shift need to produce?

Answer: 4/15

Step-by-step explanation: Total Cars to be produced in three Shifts = 210

Fraction of total cars to be produced in First Shift = 2/5

Fraction of total cars to be produced in second Shift = 1/3

Summation of all the fractions of total cars to be produced in all the three shifts should be equal to 1

Hence, fraction of total cars to be produced in third Shift = 1- (2/5) - (1/3)

= ( 15 - 6 - 5)/15 ( taking LCM of 5&3)

= 4/15
