The distance between two points:

\large \boxed{ \sqrt{(x_2 - x_1)^(2) + {(y_2 - y_1)}^(2) } }

From the graph, the given points are (-3,1) and (5,-4). Substitute the points in as we get:

\large{d = \sqrt{ {( - 3 - 5)}^(2) + {(1 + 4)}^(2) } } \\ \large{d = \sqrt{ { (- 8)}^(2) + {5}^(2) } } \\ \large{d = √(64 + 25) \longrightarrow √(89) }

Hence the distance between two points is √89.

Answer

  • √89
