As we can see, the sides of the bigger triangle is twice that or the smaller

Thus, we have it that for similar sides, we simply have to multiply the smaller side length by 2 to give the larger

We have this as:

2(2y + 5) = 5y + 3

4y + 10 = 5y+ 3

5y-4y = 10-3

y = 7
