2x + 3y = 26 -- equation 1

3x + 5y =40 -- equation 2

(Equation 1) * 3

6x + 9y = 78 -- equation 3

(Equation 2) * 2

6x + 10y = 80 -- equation 4

(Equation 4) - (Equation 3)

y = 2 -- equation 5

(Equation 5)'s value of y into (Equation 1)

2x + 3(2) = 26

2x = 20

x = 10

Thus x = 10 and y = 2

Hope that helps!
