Some plants absorb all the nutrients in the soil, like the cotton plant, and some return them to the soil, like peanuts. The latter plants are called nitrogen-fixing plants. Rotating these and the former plants (like cotton), replenishes the nutrients in the soil and creates a healthy agricultural cycle.
