How were the Southern and Northern Economies different?

If we are referring to the United States at the time not long before the Civil War...

One important difference between both economies is that the South was economically dependent on slaves. The southern climate was the perfect place to grow crops, and plantations started relying on the labor of slaves to properly treat the crops.

The North, however, was rapidly industrializing. It relied more on factories and other forms of industrialization than farms and slaves.
