Answer:

x = 6 , y = 5

Explanation:

Find x :

The interior angles of a square is 90°

Therefore ,

(9x+ 36)° = 90°

9x + 36 - 36 = 90 - 36 [ subtract 36 on both sides ]

9x = 90 - 36 [ - 36 + 36 = 0 ]

9x = 54 [ divide by 9 on both sides ]

x = 6

Find y :

The sides of a square are equal.

Therefore,

7y - 12 = 5 y - 2

7y -5y - 12 = 5y -5y - 2 [ subtract 5y from both sides ]

2y - 12 = 0 - 2 [ 5y - 5y = 0 ]

2y - 12 + 12 = 0 - 2 + 12 [ add 12 on both sides ]

2y + 0 = 10 [ -12 + 12 = 0 ]

2y = 10

y = 5 [ divide by 2 on both sides ]

Answer:

x = 6, y = 5

Explanation:

The angles in a square = 90°, so

9x + 36 = 90 ( subtract 36 from both sides )

9x = 54 ( divide both sides by 9 )

x = 6

-------------------------------------------------------

The sides of a square are equal , then

7y - 12 = 5y - 2 ( subtract 5y from both sides )

2y - 12 = - 2 ( add 12 to both sides )

2y = 10 ( divide both sides by 2 )

y = 5
