y - x = 46

y = 46 + x

4x = y + 2

y = 46 + x in 4x = y + 2

4x + y = x + y + 46 + 2

4x + y - y = x + y - y + 46 + 2

4x = x + 48

4x - x = x - x + 48

3x = 48

3x ÷ 3 = 48 ÷ 3

x = 16

y = x + 46

y = 16 + 46

y = 62
