y= 3x -7 -----(1)

y= 2x +1 -----(2)

Substitute (1) into (2):

3x -7= 2x +1

Being x terms to one side, constant to the other:

3x -2x= 7 +1

x= 8

Substitute x= 8 into (2):

y= 2(8) +1

y= 16 +1

y= 17

∴ The solution is (8, 17).
