1. Breakfast Food Company A conducts a research experiment that shows that one of their products, Cereal A, is much healthier than cereals made by other companies. Is this an example confirmation bias? Why or why not?
2. John wants to test sports drinks to find the best one to drink during the soccer season. Every day after practice, John drinks a different sports drink and writes down how good it tastes. At the end of the week, he looks at his data and finds that Sports Drink A is the best. Is this confirmation bias? Why or why not?

1. It is confirmation bias because the company conducted a research experiment on their on products. They could have implemented or changed variables that are part of the experiment in order to get the results they would want. It is best to have a third party that don’t work for the company in order to conduct the experiment without biases

2. For this one it could be both yes and no. It could be that John really enjoyed Sports Drink A, so he purposely wrote down the data for the other drink lower. Here he was bias towards what he wants to have a better outcome. Maybe the sport drink A is from a company he likes many of their products. In order to not have confirmation bias, john should get a friend to give him the drinks without the labels, and the drinks should be the same color. That way he only tests the taste and not the way it looks. Both packaging and the color of the drink.
