Explanation: Cut each coordinate in half.

In other words, multiply each coordinate by 1/2 = 0.5

6*0.5 = 3

-2*0.5 = -1

The point (6,-2) moves to (3, -1) after the dilation. This trick only works because the origin is the center of dilation.
