Explanation:

area of the figure

split the figure and form to figure rectangle and square

for rectangle

length = 6 cm + 3 cm

=9 cm

breadth = 4 cm

area of rectangle = l*b

=9 cm * 4 cm

=36 cm^2

for square

length =3 cm

area of square = (3 cm)^2

=9 cm^2

area of figure = area of rectangle + area of square

=36 cm^2 + 9 cm^2

=45 cm^2
