Saudi Arabia might be one of the world's largest producers of crude oil but they most of the country experiences extremely hot and dry temperatures on account of the Arabian desert with little access to fresh water sources that would enable them supply to their citizens.

To counter this, the Saudis built some of the world's largest desalination plants in order to convert the vast salty waters of the Ocean to something more drinkable for the citizens.
