PLEASE HELP! Joe was holding a kite with his hand 5' off the ground. The kite string is 125' long and has an angle of elevation of 56 degrees. How high off the ground is the kite?

Answer: 108.629 inches off the ground. (Round to any decimal place!)

Hi there! This is very similar to a question that I had yesterday, so I will do my best to try to answer it! I’m only in middle school, so this may not be correct :)

Explanation:

First set up a diagram. The length of the string is the hypotenuse, and the angle of elevation is as pictured below. Use SOH CAH TOA to find the correct ratio, and then solve for “x”. Once you solve for “x” (height) add the 5 inches to the total, and your answer will be there! :)
