Answer:

68 in

Explanation:

Because the area of the squares is 3 x 3 = 9 and because there are two squares it is 18. The area of the central figure is 50 because i divided it into 4 triangles and 2 rectangles, each rectangle is 15 in and each triangle is 5 in so 15 x 2 = 30, 5 x 4 = 20 and 30 + 20 + 18 = 68

answer: 88in^2
explanation: by separating the figure into easier pieces, simple triangles and rectangles, this problem becomes much easier.
by looking the overall length of the figure, we get 7, if you cut off the big rectangle in the middle from that seven, you end up with a diamond with a height of 10 and a length of 4. multiply those together to get the area of the points on either side.
10 x 4 = 40
now looking back at the rectangle, by adding up the heights, you get a height of 16. multiply this with the length of 3 and you get 48.
add the two and you get the total area.
40 + 48 = 88
