\large \boxed{(f - g)(x) = f(x) - g(x)}

We subtract the f(x) by g(x) which means that we subtract 3x-1 from x+2.

\large{(f - g)(x) = (3x - 1) - (x + 2)}

Cancel the parentheses by distributing the negative sign in x+2.

\large{(f - g)(x) = 3x - 1 - x - 2}

Combine like terms.

\large{(f - g)(x) = 2x - 3}

Answer

  • (f-g)(x) = 2x - 3

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any doubts.
