A container holds 3/4 gallon of oil. Joan is changing the oil on his vehicle and needs 6 containers. How many gallons of oil does Joan need? (an explanation would be good!)

4.5 Gallons of oil ( 4 and 1/2 )

3/4 = 0.75 (The amount the container holds)
0.75 * 6 (The number of containers
0.75 * 6 = 4.5
4.5 Gallons of oil are needed ( 4 and 1/2 )
