Applying,

S = (y₂-y₁)/(x₂-x₁)................ Equation 1

Where S = slope of the line.

From the question,

Given: y₂ = 10, y₁ = 4, x₂ = k, x₁ = 1, S = 1

Substitute these values into equation 1

1 = (10-4)/(k-1)

crossmultiplying,

(k-1) = (10-4)

k-1 = 6

k = 6+1

k = 7
