Calculate the probability for the following situation: You are tossing a coin, then rolling a die, then drawing a card from a deck of cards. What is the probability that you will get: a head AND an odd number on the die AND a card greater than 3 (assume the ace is equal to 1) from the deck?

Answer:

Flipping the coin:

P( H ) = 1/2

---------------------

Rolling the die:

There are 6 numbers

1,2,3,4,5,6

3 of them are odd, so

P( odd ) = 3/6

P( odd ) = 1/2

Explanation:

There are 52 cards in a deck

There are +9%2A4+=+36+

cards less than +10+

P( <10 ) = 36/52

P( <10 ) = 9/13

-----------------

Since you want ALL the above,

multiply probabilities

+%281%2F2%29%2A%281%2F2%29%2A%289%2F13%29+=+9%2F52+
