Based on the success of their new treatment for sickle cell disease,
Amitye-Baane-Fortaleza research team decided to start a new company and
open a research center dedicated to curing diseases that disproportionately
affect Black people in the United States and around the world. They hired
an engineering and architecture firm called Bishapham-Cummins, Rice,
and Holloway LLC. They assigned their lead architects Fatoumata Sylla
and Leudy Tejada, along with lead engineers Jerome Wade, Neveah
Rodrigues and Jarell Hunte to design and build the new research center
