multiply the bottom equation by 2

-4x + 8y = 12

4x+3y=-5

cancel out both 4x

8y+3y=11y

12+ -5 = 7

11y=7

divide both sides by 11

y=7/11

substitute that in for y

4x + 3(7/11) = -5

4x + 21/11 = -5

4x = -69/10

x= 69/40
