4x - 18 = 0 and -2x + k = 0. In order for the x-intercepts to be equal, we have to solve each equation for x and then set those expressions equal to each other.

4x = 18 so

x = 9/2.

-2x = -k so

x = k/2. If the x-intercepts are the same value, then


(9)/(2)=(k)/(2) so, obviously,

k = 9
