Some experts fear that using test scores as the sole indicator of students’ and teachers’ knowledge and skills is harming students, causing students to drop out of school, and driving the best teachers away from the profession. Based on your experiences, what is your opinion on this issue?

Answer:

A high stakes test is a score from a moment in time, it does not accurately reflect what a student knows as there are outside factors to consider. Not all students test well, some have test anxiety and at the end of the day some simply do not care. To hold all students to the same standard is not a fair practice as we all come from different backrounds and to hold teachers accountable for a test score that students are told by parents does not matter is not responsible.
